Teen Producers Academy
MONDAYS, WEDNESDAYS, & FRIDAYS
JULY 6 – AUGUST 15, 2016APPLICATION DUE FRIDAY APRIL 8, 2016
The Teen Producers Academy is a year-round after school and summer intensive film program where high school students work in small teams to make a short documentary. We are looking for youth who have a story to tell, and want to make moving and honest films about subjects important to you and your communities.
You will learn how to produce a short documentary film while working within a small production team. This includes telling a powerful story from a simple concept, how to use an HD camera and professional audio recording equipment, and the art of cinematography and film editing. You will learn how to interview people and engage them in sophisticated conversation. You will also learn how to edit on professional editing software, Final Cut Pro.
We are looking for people who love film and have a genuine interest in learning how to produce a documentary film. We are looking for young people who are artistic, want to tell a good story and are motivated to work behind the camera in telling that story. In addition, we would like to work with young people who are mature, sophisticated and willing to work in groups. Everyone must complete the application by the deadline date. Select applicants will be asked to interview with institute staff. Based on the quality of your written responses and interview, we will make a decision on who will be selected. Selected students are expected to commit to all dates of the program and work collaboratively with other aspiring filmmakers. No prior experience or equipment is needed – just a positive attitude and your genuine creativity.
