High School students are invited to join us for Sing for Hope's free, weeklong Arts Intensive!  The Arts Intensive offers students the opportunity to work with professional artists from Broadway, the Met & more, while exploring a variety of art forms, includingmusic, drama, dance, theatre, and visual art!

Our summer program exposes children ages 2 to 15 to, music, drumming, gardening, theater, cooking, languages, art, and much more.

Our 22,000 sqaure foot center in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, is a creative vibrant setting for children to explore, learn and interact by finding new ways to express themselves every summer. Trilok Fusion Arts is dedicated to being a gateway to sights and sounds from around the world. Our highly qualified teachers are artists in their respective fields and come from all around the world, carrying a special enriching experience for your child. Each teacher is dedicated to sharing the love they have for their craft. Our director Sudha Seetharaman is an Indian classical dancer by training and believes in the transformative universal nature of the arts. This is the spirit our programs embody bringing a passion for exploration, learning and discovery.

trilok fusion arts was founded in 1996. Our mission is to bring together artists of varied cultural backgrounds, to collaborate and create work and performances that embody the roots of their respective traditions

Wingspan Arts Conservatory Programs

Designed for students with a genuine desire to develop their theatre performance skills, Wingspan Arts Conservatory Programs offer pre-professional training for teens, and creative theatre classes for younger students. Our class offerings change often- scroll down to see what is going on now!

THE WINGSPAN ENSEMBLE: Theatre Company

The Wingspan Ensemble is a select group of high school students who love theatre and look forward to exploring meatier, more challenging work. Ensemble classes are more specialized and challenging than those offered to the Wingspan Players.
The goal of the Ensemble is to stretch our actors to create exciting work.
In production: Theatre students focus on less frequently produced plays and musicals.
All students must return an application form as well as a teacher recommendation to the Wingspan Arts offices.
Teacher recommendations should come from a teacher of any subject that can speak to your child’s ability to work in an ensemble and their excitement about the arts.

An innovative summer program where children create an original musical theatre piece. This program focuses on creativity and nurturing children’s inherent acting and writing skills. Kids learn the fundamentals of musical theatre: playmaking, acting singing, and dancing using imagination games as well as formal classes.
Session 1 students create a fully student driven piece- created wholly by our kids; Session 2 uses some previously published materials as a jumping off point.
Students will also have a chance to play outdoors every day.
MANY STUDENTS ATTEND BOTH SESSIONS.
A typical day for a GYPSY-
Morning: storytelling games, brainstorming ideas for their play,
singing and dancing workshops.
LUNCH at Noon
Early afternoon: Playground time, quiet games, ‘Set’building.
AFTERNOON SNACK
Late afternoon: more formal work on singing and dancing- specifically from their piece.

Summer Arts Institute 2011

SUMMER ARTS INSTITUTE 2011

The 2011 Summer Arts Institute will take place from July 5 through July 29 at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria, Queens. The film studio will run an extra two weeks and close on August 12.

- The application and program information will be made available for download at this site during the first week of January. Click here to join the Summer Arts Institute mailing list and receive the 2011 program application when it becomes available.

-Application Deadline: All applications must be received by 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18.

-Auditions will be held Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27 between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts.
-Summer Arts Institute is open to New York City Department of Education public school students entering grades 8 through 12 in Fall 2011. Only students currently enrolled in or planning to attend a New York City Department of Education public school for the 2011-12 school year may apply.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Summer Arts Institute is a tuition-free, intensive, four-week arts program for New York City public school students entering grades 8-12, held at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts High School in Astoria, Queens.

Students major in dance, theater, vocal music, instrumental music, visual art, film or photography. The program is designed for students at an intermediate or advanced level of study in their chosen art form.

Summer Arts Institute offers a unique opportunity for students to work with master Department of Education arts specialists, partnering cultural organizations, and guest artists. The experienced staff of teachers and artists guides students in building a portfolio or audition skills for the next level of their studies: a specialized high school, college, university or conservatory.

Summer Arts Institute focuses on three areas:
- developing students' artistic skills and creativity;
- broadening students' awareness of the arts and;
- helping students recognize and explore career options in the art and arts-related industries.

This intensive summer arts experience connects students to community and cultural resources along with access to careers and lifelong learning in the arts.

The daily schedule includes morning studio work and afternoon experiences with professional artists, on-site and off. In the morning studios, students work at developing and improving their technical skills and creative expression in their selected art form. Afternoons are dedicated to rehearsals, attending professional performances, visiting professional arts venues and exploring potential careers. The Institute culminates with a student visual art and photography exhibit and live performance for families and the local community.

Students who complete the program in good standing are eligible to receive a ½ unit of credit that may be applied towards an elective arts credit or a Regents or local diploma-major sequence upon approval from their school.

Brooklyn Museum - Apprentice Program - Application Deadline Extended to 10/8

Education: Museum Apprentice Program


The Museum Apprentice Program is a great opportunity for teens to work behind the scenes at a major art museum. Museum Apprentices:

  • Meet curators
  • Develop educational tours for summer camp groups
  • Practice public speaking
  • Plan events for other teens
  • Expand their knowledge of art and art history
The Museum Apprentice Program is open to all high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and beginning seniors. The program begins in October and concludes in August. Meetings are held on Fridays from 5 to 7 p.m., October through June. Apprentices must work a minimum of one weekend day per month during the school year. In July and August, Apprentices will work with camp groups from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesdays through Fridays. Apprentices must commit to a full year and are required to attend all meetings and workdays.

Internships for New York City High School Students (Grade 12)

Seniors attending New York City high schools are welcome to apply for a paid internship at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Interns work behind the scenes, meet members of the Museum staff, and participate in gallery, studio, and Museum learning projects designed to broaden their understanding of the Museum and to deepen their knowledge of art.
