YouthBridge-NY - Leadership Development - Recruiting.

 2011-2012  Application Season

YouthBridge-NY is a nonprofit leadership development organization that convenes and trains young people to meet the challenges of an extremely diverse New York City. YouthBridge-NY youth leaders are proactively involved in the leadership and diversity landscape of our city and are dedicated to improving the quality of life for all.

YouthBridge-NY is now recruiting sophomores (who will be juniors in fall 2011) to participate in this two-year leadership training Fellowship. First-year Fellows take part in monthly skill-building workshops and specialized action committees. Second-year Bridgers apply the skills they learned in their first year by working with nonprofit organizations to develop unique projects targeting a diversity/social justice issue. Fellows and Bridgers participate in a kick-off summer retreat, special meetings with corporate and city leaders, build friendships with peers from all five-boroughs, and more!

Sadie Nash Leadership Project

THE SUMMER INSTITUTE

The Summer Institute requires an initial commitment of six weeks. The summer program lasts for six weeks from July 5th – August 12th, 2011 Monday through Friday from 10:00am until 4:00pm (on Fridays, we have special events and the hours are different).  The Summer Institute is located in Manhattan.  There will be required pre-session orientation meetings in early June to prepare you for the summer, and to provide an opportunity to meet staff and to get to know each other.  During the summer you and your peers will take interesting classes, meet women involved in different forms of leadership, take workshops on issues that are important to you, go on trips and explore your own and others’ leadership.
THE STIPEND

To help you cover your expenses (food and transportation) during the summer you will receive a stipend during the program for everyday that you are there ($10 for lunch and a Metrocard). You only receive the stipend when you are at the program because it covers those two direct costs that come with attendance.
ATTENDANCE

SNLP does not allow more than 3 absences during the summer program. If you have valid reasons for those absences (illness, family emergency) that you did not know about prior to the summer, we will let you return to the program the following summer. SNLP requires attendance for both the strength of the community and to enhance your experience. Also, at SNLP two late arrivals counts as an absence. Please contact us if you have more questions about these policies.
