District Middle School Fairs Begin Tuesday!

The Department of Education will kick off the Middle School Admissions process with its annual District Middle School Fairs on October 8, 9, 10, 16, and 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. At the Fair, you'll have the chance to speak with representatives from the schools to which you’re interested in applying, so be prepared to ask plenty of questions! Before you head to the Fair, take a look at the Fair Guide for tips on what to do at the Fair and how to make the best use of your time.

Fairs will be held in districts 1-23, 25, and 28-32, and families do not need to RSVP to attend. For a complete list of dates and locations, please visit our website.

Save the Date: Middle School Open HousesSchools will hold open houses for interested students in the weeks following the District Middle School Fairs. Families can contact schools directly for dates and times, or visit www.nyc.gov/schools/ChoicesEnrollment/middle/calendar.

Middle School Directories Are Now AvailableEach student will receive a copy of the Directory of NYC Middle Schools 2013-2014 from their elementary school. The Directories provide information about middle schools in each district so families can make informed choices when applying to middle school. English versions of the Directories are now available online. Translated versions of the directories will be available onlineon a rolling basis.

Middle School ApplicationsMiddle school applications will be distributed to families in November and are due back to guidance counselors in December. More information about Middle School Admissions, including a calendar of events, deadlines, and electronic copies of middle school publications, are available on the Department’s Web site at www.nyc.gov/schools/ChoicesEnrollment/Middle.
