RestoreMyClimate.org is a video contest presented by the Citizens’ Climate Education Corp [
+] that invites young people in Grades 5-12 to create compelling videos that educate peers, family and community about real solutions to climate change.

Plan and create an informative video which includes one or both of the following messages:
The world’s top climate scientists confirm that we can restore the climate of the 1980s by 2070. It won’t require a miracle or big sacrifices, just the will and policies to do it. Hope videos should tell us why YOU believe that we CAN solve the climate change issue.
America’s history shows we are capable of coming together and achieving remarkable things when faced with great threats and challenges. Action videos should educate your peers, family and community about what America can do to restore the climate of the 1980s by 2070.
Prizes can be awarded to individuals, groups, classrooms or schools.
The 1st Place Winner will be awarded a trip for one youth (+1 guardian) to Washington, D.C. in June to join their state’s delegation for the 5th Annual Citizens’ Climate Lobby Conference. Alternatively, the 1st place winner may accept a $1,500 grant to be spent on climate education and/or action projects in their school or community.
The 1st Place Winner will also receive an iON AIR PRO action camera valued at $229
The 2nd place winner will be awarded a $500 grant to be spent on climate education and/or action projects in their school or community.
The 2nd Place Winner will also receive a Livescribe Echo smartpen valued at $179
The 3rd place winner will be awarded a $250 grant to be spent on climate education and/or action projects in their school or community.
AGES: The contest is open to U.S. residents who are ages 10 to 17 on or before June 1, 2014. Videos must be created and produced by individuals who meet these criteria.
COPPA: If you are under 13, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 requires that in order to enter your video in the contest, we’ll need your parent or guardian to send in a
parental consent form (PDF) along with your video.
Groups: This video contest would make an excellent immersive learning project for your middle or high school class. If you are a teacher wishing to upload a video on behalf of your students, you must first obtain and submit
parental consent forms (PDF) for all students whose names or images appear in the video.
Winners will be announced to the public on this website on or around June 11th, 2014. The First Prize Winner will be notified by 5:00 PM (ET) on June 9th, 2014. Winners will be notified via email.
All videos will be judged by a panel based on:
- Creativity & originality (Don’t forget to have fun!)
- Content accuracy (Need help? See our resources page)
- Following contest rules & theme
- Video quality
- Overall presentation
*Note about class prizes: Winning videos submitted as part of a school project are encouraged! In the event that a classroom or school is awarded 1st prize, the sponsoring classroom or educator is asked to select one student who would represent the group in Washington.
