Teen Classes

The Metropolitan Museum of Art invites teens to take part in free classes held after school, on weekends, and during holidays. Visitors ages eleven through eighteen actively explore the Museum's collection through discussion in the galleries and the development of writing, drawing, painting, and other technical skills in the studio.

Internships for New York City High School Students (Grade 12)

Seniors attending New York City high schools are welcome to apply for a paid internship at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Interns work behind the scenes, meet members of the Museum staff, and participate in gallery, studio, and Museum learning projects designed to broaden their understanding of the Museum and to deepen their knowledge of art. Survey for Parents of 18-30 year olds

  Are you the parent of an 18-30 year old and would you like to
answer a questionnaire for a new book on emerging adulthood?


Parenting doesn’t end when kids leave for college, move out of the house ... or back in! How does the relationship between parents and their late teen and 20-something sons and daughters evolve during this stage of life? What are the questions and decisions facing today’s young people? What are the questions and decisions facing you? And exactly how involved should you be in each other’s lives?

For this book to be published by Workman Publishing, local writer Elizabeth Fishel  (author of Sisters and Reunion, among others) is collaborating with Clark University developmental psychologist Jeffrey Arnett who coined the term “emerging adulthood” to describe the transitional time between adolescence and adulthood. (Jeff’s work was featured in a recent NY Times magazine cover story which you can read at http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/22/magazine/22Adulthood-t.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=what%20is%20it%20about%2020-somethings&st=cse)

NYC Department of Ed College Bridge Program - for HS & GED grads

What is the College Bridge Program?

District 79 has designed a 13 week course that will help recent high school and GED graduates build skills in reading, writing, and math in order to excel on college entrance exams like the ACT and SAT.

Why should you attend?

Passing the college entrance exams helps students avoid taking expensive remedial courses that do not count toward graduation requirements. It saves time and money!

Who is this program for?

The ideal candidate for the College Bridge Program is one who:

• 
  
  received their HS or GED diploma between 2009 and 2010
• 
  
  has a strong desire to attend college
• 
  
  needs help in reading, writing, and/or math
• 
  
  had a good attendance record at their high school or GED program

When and where will classes take place?

Classes will start in October 2010 and take place from 4-9 pm Monday through Friday. The program will be offered at two locations, 269 West 35th Street (at 8th Avenue) in Manhattan and 67- 69 Schermerhorn Street in Brooklyn.
