Dynamic Social Thinking Groups

The Social World can feel like a confusing place...
especially in Junior High and High School!

Upcoming Group: 8th-10th Grade Boy’s
Thursdays 5pm

In the Social Underground, we explore the “hidden rules” of Social World.
Groups are geared towards students with Asperger's syndrome, non-verbal
learning disabilities, semantic/pragmatic communication disorder,
& other social cognitive deficits.
We explore... • choosing friends, hanging out, & handling disagreements
• reading body language & other social signals
• thinking about what people say... & what they really mean
• problem-solving and handling disagreements
• the “hidden rules” of the social world
• using individual strengths & interests... and noticing others’
• understanding electronic communication

Location: Park Slope, Brooklyn
Package : 12-weeks = $1,200 (11 group sessions + 1 parent meeting+ 1 mid session write-up)

Facilitators: Susan Brennan, a speech language pathologist and Lauren Hough, a special educator, are
developers of the ASD NEST program’s Social Development Invention. Susan trained directly with Michelle
Winner, the originator of Social Thinking. Lauren is now the director of professional development for the ASD
Nest Project at NYU.

For this group we are working with Aaron Lanou, a special educator who works at the ASD Nest Project at
NYU. He has experience working with older kids and has done amazing work focusing on his student’s
strengths and interests to support their social thinking.
