Piper Theatre Workshop/Afterschool @ the Old Stone House

Piper Theatre Workshop/Afterschool @ the Old Stone House
Devising: The Theatrical Imagination for High School Students

Artists who make work get work.  A particular skill for the theatre artist is the ability to devise a theatrical world.  This course will
be focused on small adaption and writing for the stage.  Students will be asked to bring in or create fresh a piece of theatrical work after
an idea, text, poem, piece of music, or concept.  The ability to understand a piece of one’s world and articulate it theatrically is an
indispensable tool for any actor, director, or writer and will breed whole layers of understanding and depth.  Options for adaption will be
provided for those who do not have a specific work to focus on.  There will be an emphasis on presence and physical work, with specific help given for voice and movement.
